Lakeland's Little Learners is ...

a nonprofit child care and preschool. Our school is located in the Elkhorn Business Park, but we also have satellite programs in the Tibbets Elementary and Jackson Elementary Schools. LLL accepts students from all over Walworth County, however, school bus services are only supplied for Elkhorn Schools via Durham Bus Service. Transportation services are offered for four-year-old kindergarden students only if your family lives in the Jackson Elementary School District but if you are willing to transport, you may choose LLL for 4K no matter where you live.

Lakeland's Little Learners History ...

Tami Adams founded Lakeland's Little Learners in August of 1985 with the help of a board of directors and community members. The center was originally opened at Lakeland Nursing Home with an enrollment of 12 children. As enrollment continued to grow, we moved into our own building in the Elkhorn Business Park. The grand opening at our new building was December 1, 1994. We now provide child care for 228 families (407 children) from Elkhorn and surrounding communities.

Our Vision and Philosophy ...

LLL provides a warm and caring atmosphere for children when they are away from home. Our philosophy is that every child shall be cared for, nurtured, and guided as is needed for that child to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. The children’s basic needs shall be cared for with TLC and the curriculum shall be presented through the philosophy of learning through play. Rooms are set up with learning centers so that children are able to learn and experiment at their own pace.  Children are allowed to choose activities that interest them and move from center to center as their interests dictate or lead them.

We believe that it is vital that young children have a rich and nurturing environment in which to spend their days. Our vision to accomplish this:

- A facility that offers warm, safe and engaging areas with adequate space.

- Materials that will stimulate the child's play and development.

- Curriculum that will enrich the child's day and help them to achieve their full potential.

- Quality teachers that are educated and compensated so they can continue to give their best to the children and families they serve.

Why Early Childhood Education???

In this day and age the necessity of two incomes has become a reality. So, where do all the children go? Hopefully, to a quality child care facility.

Scientists state that by the time a child is three years old, 85% of the brain structure is in place. This time frame offers a huge opportunity to stimulate brain development. Research proves high quality child care programs produce positive short and long term effects for children. With these startling facts, it becomes obvious how important the early childhood years are.
